“It is important for Peggy and Christopher to see the hand in the work, which is present in all of their houses, from the ink-black flagstone from India that covers the entire first floor of their ownhome to the hand-raked stucco on the exterior of Library House to the white oak, ipe and black walnut sheathing the interiors of the Palisades house. The latter, finished in 2022 and only in existence for a few short years before being taken by the Palisades fire, has been treated with the appropriate care and reverence here, its precious construction photos seeming to fade into the background, a reminder of the impermanence of architecture, the loss of a dear client’s home, and the sometimes devastating power of nature.”
